Settings: How Surfe matches LinkedIn profiles to your CRM

Surfe can now match a LinkedIn profile to an existing CRM contact using first and last name, even when the CRM contact has no company or a different company.

This helps prevent duplicates, especially when a contact was created automatically from an email and only has a name and email address.

How matching works

Surfe checks for an existing CRM contact in this order:

  1. Previously linked record
  2. LinkedIn URL or ID
  3. First and last name
  4. Phone number, when available

If several contacts have the same name, Surfe prefers the one at the matching company.

If there is no company match, Surfe can still match by name.

Choose how strict matching should be

Name-only matching is on by default.

If you prefer stricter matching, a Surfe Support Agent can enable Require Company Match internally for your account.

  • Name-only matching: finds more existing contacts and helps prevent duplicates.
  • Require Company Match: only allows name matches when the company also matches.

These settings are mutually exclusive.

Note: Strict LinkedIn URL Matching disables name-only matching.

Supported CRMs

Name-only matching works with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Copper.

It does not use credits.

Existing duplicates are not automatically merged or deleted.
