Editing and mapping properties

Properties are pieces of information stored in CRM records. For instance, the "Source" property on a Company record indicates where the company was added from. Ensuring your property fields in your CRM are properly mapped with Surfe ensures that the correct data is added to the correct fields when you use Surfe to ‘Add to CRM.’

When setting up Surfe, it’s a good idea to check your fields are properly mapped. What you’re looking for is that the personal information that Surfe finds on LinkedIn is correctly mapped to the relevant field in your CRM.

How to map properties

To ensure all of your properties are correctly mapped, simply head over to your Surfe dashboard and open the ‘properties mapping’ tab.

Here, you’ll see two columns. The left column indicates the data that Surfe is taking from a LinkedIn profile, and the right column indicates what field it will connect it with in the CRM.

An example of an important field to have correctly mapped is the LinkedIn URL. Surfe uses the LinkedIn URL property (if present) to correctly identify the corresponding profile on LinkedIn. However, if the LinkedIn URL is not present in your database, it can lead to duplicates and issues keeping the information up to date.

Scroll down the ‘properties mapping’ tab until you reach the ‘Identifiers’ section. In the field next to ‘LinkedIn URL’, select the field in your CRM you would like to connect the user’s LinkedIn URL to. If you’ve not done so already, you may have to create a new field for this property.

How to edit properties displayed on LinkedIn

Surfe creates a CRM overlay on top of the profiles of your contacts. By default, Surfe will display email, phone, and company info, as well as tasks attributed to the contact.

We also show additional properties which you can change at any time. To change these properties, simply click the ‘Edit properties’ button and select the fields you’d like to appear here.

You can edit the data of these properties directly on LinkedIn and the change will be portrayed in your CRM automatically. Simply click on the property and select the data you’d like in your CRM from this list.
